Even when life is going well, it can throw you a curveball.

No matter where you are in life, we all get stuck every once in a while. You might feel you have lower energy levels and even lack of motivation.

This feeling of being “stuck in life” is perfectly normal and you are not alone. It’s part of the journey to happiness.

Embrace the feeling of “being stuck”

In all aspects of your life including but not limited too; work, family, relationships, etcetera, you have to allow yourself to realize life is hard and there will be times you need to push yourself harder to get by.

Realize this is normal and others experience this too!

Your situation is not unique.

Identify your obstacles

Obstacles are always going to be round. We all have to face adversity.

The key is how you handle the struggle.

When stuck in life, we often tend to use the same approaches as we did the last time we were stuck in life.

In order to avoid the same mistakes, we need to understand why we are stuck and what got you there. Knowing the “why” and working to understand the obstacles, will empower you to make changes to get out of your rut.

Re-organize your time

It’s too easy to fall into the trap of negativity when stuck in life.

How often do we say “I don’t have the time to do this or the time to do that.” These are just the beginnings of the most excuses.

One needs to create time for oneself. By creating time for yourself you allow yourself to be naturally productive.

Establish a plan to guide you through the moments when you have had enough.

Talk to yourself honestly

Have you ever thought, “Why is it we can provide sound advice to friends, family, and co-workers without much reservation and issues, but when it comes to ourselves, we can’t even come close?”

It’s true.

I was talking to my niece not too long ago about things that we talk about with others do not always resonate with ourselves. What may sound like common sense when we talk to others, does not always click with ourselves when it is happening to us.

Step out of your mind and act as if you are resolving the issue for a friend.

This not only takes you out of the picture of your own issue but then you can think clearer and maybe resolve the obstacle that is holding you back.

Distract yourself when needed

For me, I am a creative person and this allows me to relax and feel productive.

Find what works for you. Perhaps it is reading, meditation, working out. Just do something to lead your mind elsewhere. Take your mind to a place that gives you positive energy.

We all have daily routines that grow stale sometimes and leave us feeling frustrated.

Shake things up and find new ways to distract yourself.

Increase productivity

Try and find ways to increase your productivity.

If work is overwhelming, find a way to be productive outside of work.

I find when I get angry or anxious, I use that energy to clean.

It can be as simple as working in the garden, going outside, snapping some pictures, yoga, or perhaps there are a few home projects that need to be. The list is endless!

Productively using your time in the evening can relieve that “stuck feeling.”

Look forward and backward

Keep in mind, no change comes fast. But like anything else worth striving for, breaking out of the “stuck mode” takes time, energy, and a great support group.

Don’t compare yourself to others. Depending on your situation, it can take you hours to get out of the “funk” or it could be weeks, months, or years.

Don’t give up and just do it!

If you feel like you’re failing look back to where you were a week ago or a few hours ago. Don’t miss those out on those tiny successes!

Final thoughts

We all move at different paces in life and in doing so we will have moments where we want to quit.

Keep in mind these moments are normal and they too shall pass with time.
