It’s pretty safe to say that not all of us wake up every day with a positive attitude. And that’s okay.
There are many reasons this happens.
But no matter the circumstances, as “conscious creators” of our own lives, we can decide at any moment to change that!
When you decide to choose to start your morning in a powerful, proactive, and positive way, you choose to set yourself up for a great day and ultimately a great life.
When you create habits that empower you and you put your mind into a positive state. You can also become the creator of your life versus b being the victim of your own circumstances.
So let’s get started creating your positive days.

4 Steps To a Great Day
1. Express Gratitude
I have said this before, and I’ll say it again “We often get caught up in the thinking that life is happening “TO” us rather than “FOR” us. Think about that.
Have you ever muttered to yourself “Why is this happening to me?” I sure have.
In reality, there is so much to be thankful for. And gratitude is something you have to look for. It does not come to you.
There is a meme I often see floating around. I cannot recall it verbatim, but it basically says if you have:
- shelter
- food
- water
- and friends and family
….you are rich.
Believe it or not, not everyone has food, shelter, clothing, etc…
There are over 200 million people who cannot read.
These are just a few.
Start each day of practicing gratitude by simply noting three things you are thankful for and your life will change.
2. Set your intentions a day ahead
Choose to write your intentions rather than your goals.
I say this because if you have intent and try, at least you have tried. But if you write daily goals and don’t achieve them, you have a chance to find failure.
Focus on the way you feel after you try your intentions. Even if your intentions are not fun like washing clothes, dishes, lawn, housework, etc…when you complete them they can make you feel the calmest and happy.
Use the same process for all things you achieve.
3. Smile
Did you know it takes more energy to be angry, sad, frown, and other negative feelings? Have you ever noticed you are exhausted after being in some negative mood?
It all has to do with serotonin, dopamine, and other hormones. (But I am not an expert in that 🙂 )
But try smiling!
It naturally triggers these hormones to create positive energy.
So, next time you are feeling negative-make yourself smile! Certainly, when you are in a negative state of mind and you make yourself smile, it will make you laugh.
Try it!
4. Breathe
Oh my! Yes, I said the obvious. We need to breathe.
Breathing is more than a tool to keep you alive.
It assists with the nervous and digestive systems.
When we are stressed, we tend to hold our breath over time, and then this can become a habit. This is not good.
Try it now. Try taking a long breath slowly. Inhale for six seconds and exhale the same for another six seconds.
How does your body feel? And that’s just one breath!
A lot can change from a single breath. And the long term effects can be phenomenal.
It’s obvious, not all days are going to be good. It’s unrealistic for every day to be a good day.
But with these four simple tools, if practiced consistently, you give yourself a better chance of having that “great day,” no matter what is happening around you.
Final Thoughts
Remember, you are the only one who is in charge of your life. No one else is!
Love yourself enough to put in the effort to create your ideal day.
