What is unity and why is it so important?
This is an important read since the world is divided at this time. We have all been through a lot and we have let a lot of our values get in the way of unity.
The phrase “United we stand, divided we fall” is a phrase we all familiar with. It is so true. And we know the importance of unity too.
Think back to 9/11. The whole world heard about it. The United States of America was under attack. We were surrounded by shock and devastation.
Now, think about how we put our differences aside and came together to support each other. We had volunteers from other states go to NY to assist. There was an outpour from other nations supporting the USA. People that could not be at ground zero were sending their support through monetary funds. We all came together.
When we have unity, we have courage, we have power, and we have strength.
Unity is necessary for the workplace, in families, and in relationships.
The more unity is in place, the more success is accomplished.
With companies, one can see small businesses wanting to be bigger. So they unite and accomplish to higher more people for more productivity. You might also see small companies combine with other companies for greater success.
In families and relationships, you see people uniting for the success of the relationship goals and the family values.
People not only stand together for strength but sometimes it is needed for survival.
Not only have we seen humans unite for survival, but we’ve seen animals work together too.
Take the bees for example. They work together in a methodical way for the survival of their hives.
Think back to the Australian wildfires. There were many videos shared of different species of animals helping other species survive.
Never allow a negative influence to break your unity. Because there are people out there that still try to break us and divide us. That in itself demonstrates how powerful unity is.
There is a story about a father and four sons. He gives each of the sons a stick to break and they all do so easily. Then the father asked the children to break 100 sticks together. They did not do it. They had failed. He told them, this is what happens when you stay together.
If you fight with each other, anyone can easily come into the picture and break you and take advantage of you. But if you stay together like the 100 sticks, no one can harm you and never break you.
Moral of the story: Stay United!
When we stand united we can face the world together and not feel alone. Together, we find courage, strength, and power. But if we are influenced by someone negative, which people usually do for their own benefit, you will divide and then peace is destroyed.
Unity is fragile.
- We must handle it with care
- We must be kind to each other
- It is necessary to help each other learn to improve our lives
The most important thing to do to maintain unity is to keep an open mind.

1. Unity is needed for survival
Unity protects us from evil.
When we are united, we can face evil and negative surroundings together.
In the workplace, you can survive when you know your team supports and values you and your work. The team itself survives when they each know you have each other’s backs.
We can revisit animals. Survival is necessary for many different reasons. Some depend on each other for hunting, injuries, threats of other animals.
When we look at families and relationships, survival may be a place to stay temporarily, a loan of money, or other resources to maintain the basics.
2. It helps us improve and grow
Nothing can grow by itself.
If you want a bigger business, you get a bigger workforce.
If you want your family or relationships to grow, you work together to achieve those goals together.
Everyone has some sort of value and pulling all of these resources together helps everyone grow.
3. Unity works in mysterious ways
Unity gives us freedom and the courage to stand up for our morals and values. When we work together, we achieve greater things at a faster pace. We all have something to contribute.
We will meet different people throughout our lives and these people will know something we don’t. Hence, we learn to understand each other and learn through each other.
I can do something which you cannot, and you can do something I cannot. But, together we can do great things.

4. It gives courage
Have you ever seen something unjust?
And did you want to say something but at that moment you were afraid to?
What happens when people start to support you? You feel braver, right?
This is another excellent reason we need unity. We need to stick up for those that do not feel they have a voice. We fight for causes and make changes for the better.
Final Thoughts
We all want to make changes. But not all are willing to make those changes alone. Or maybe some want others to do it for them.
No matter what, this is our world, our country, our home, and our lives. We all must do our part to protect them and grow! It does not matter how small or how large, we must unite to protect them.
