Your mind and body are two-in-one systems. Your physical body impacts your emotions and vice versa. Both will influence your stress levels.
Have you ever felt nauseous in your stomach when you are anxious? If so, you experienced the mind/body connection.
The Effects of Stress on Mind/Body
No one is immune to stress.
The best thing to do is take preventative measures so the stress is not long-term.

- Gut Problems (the gut and brain are constantly communicating)

You have 2 choices:
- let stressors suffocate your health and well-being
- transform your wounds into wisdom and rewrite a new story
It’s okay to be scared. You are human. Allow yourself to feel everything. Take deep breaths and trust yourself.
How to Stay Calm, Cool, and Collected When In Stressful Situations
Being in hurry all of the time will drain your energy.
Work and life make you feel overwhelmed.
These can all cause stress.
Here are 8 quick steps to keep you calm, cool, and collected under stressful situations
1. Breathe
Stop! Take 5 deep breaths. Imagine all stress leaving your body on the exhale.
Smile. Fake it, even if you have to. It’s hard to stay grumpy with a goofy grin on your face.
2. Loosen Up
Sometimes we clench our jaw when stressed. Tension set in your shoulders.
Acknowledge it!
3. Chew Slowly
The faster you eat, the more you. Then you end up with a stomach ache and it can cause you to gain weight too.
4. Let It Go
Stressing and worrying had never helped any negative situation turn into a positive one.
5. Enjoy the Ride
Focusing on the end result can be exhausting. Also, when you focus on the end result, you can lose focus on the process of the journey.
Don’t set expectations. They only set you up for disappointment when they don’t happen. Set mini-goals instead.
Don’t focus on the negative, but do focus on the positive.
6. Look at The Big Picture
Ask yourself…Will this matter to me next week, next month, next year, or 10 years from now.
Hint: No, it won’t!
Stop agonizing over things you cannot control.
7. Stop Demanding Perfection From Yourself

Keep in mind, you are NOT perfect. Striving for perfection is impossible, so don’t cause unnecessary stress for something that is not obtainable.
8. Practice Patience Every Day
Have patience. All things are difficult before they becom easy.

Okay, this may sound crazy but trust me on this. To practice patience, you might try a few of these ideas.
- The next time you are in the grocery check out, stand in the longest line.
- Instead of going through the bank drive-thru, walk in to do your banking. Again, stand in the longest line.
- Take a long walk through a secluded trail or park.
Whatever it is, Challenge Yourself!

Staying calm in stressful situations is possible with daily practice.
Taking deep breaths and eating mindfully is to train your brain to be more patient.
When you change the way you think about situations and stay positive, you will naturally keep yourself cool and stay calm.
